Notes 1 Divisions receive Tier 2 web hosting and creation of 15 pages or 20 hours of training at no cost.
Tier 1 customers can request quota and/or page count increases for a nominal fee. In addition, DOM IT Services can created pages for you as a project.
Editors must log in to edit their sites.
URL redirects to subdirectories from domain-level URLs (e.g., foo.ucsf.edu to name.medicine.ucsf.edu/foo).
Tier 2 and Tier 3 customers can create subdirectories, and can use nested subdirectories in their site left navigation (see this page's left navigation menu for an example).
Tier 2 and Tier 3 sites are backed up nightly.
Tier 2 and Tier 3 customers receive space equal to their quota on a development, or "staging," server, where they can make changes to their pages before rolling them out to their "live" sites.
Tier 1 web sites are incompatible with Dreamweaver.
Tier 1 sites contain static pages only, and all scripting is stripped out by the built-in editor.
Tier 2 customers get preconfigured monthly web traffic reports using Google Analytics. Tier 3 customers get customizable, on-demand web traffic analysis using Google Analytics.
Tier 3 sites receive their own Google Site Search function.
Tier 3 sites can leverage the power of an SQL database to drive their web content.
Tier 3 customers can have their own SSL certificate for hosting secure web sites. The cost of the certificate is included in the monthly hosting fee.
Tier 3 sites can be "rolled back" to any version in the past (up to the start of this service). Just another level of safety, in case you make a mistake!
Tier 2 customers can request daily updates via a web form. Tier 3 customers can request updates at any time during business hours.
Tier 3 customers receive a free resource email account, which you can use for group contacts, forms, etc.
Tier 3 sites are not bound by the Department of Medicine web templates, but must still comply with the UCSF Web Identity Standards.

Services not covered in your hosting tier, or not specifically mentioned here, may still be available as a project. Web development and training services are also available. For more information please email webmaster@medicine.ucsf.edu, or use our project request form.
